JAMMU, June 22: Expressing resentment against the PDD and PHE Departments for failing to provide regular power and water supply, Jammu and Kashmir People Democratic Party (PDP) held a protest demonstration at Press Club here today.
The PDP activists with placards in their hands assembled at Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against PDD and PHE Ministries holding the Government responsible for prevailing power and water crisis.
They warned the Government not to test the patience of people and ensure regular supply of electricity to Jammu region. “Though the area is metered, still people are facing eight hours cut in this hot summer “, said Vikram Singh, a youth leader of PDP.
He said that unscheduled power cuts have made the life of the people hell and the students are the worst sufferers mainly those who are preparing for various entrance exams.
The PDD& PHE Departments have crafted wrong policies and are responsible for the power and water crises in the city, he added.
He further said that it is the duty of the Government to provide basic amenities to the public on priority basis but the present NC-Congress led Coalition Government has failed on every front.
The activists also threatened to march to the PHE Minister’s house if clean water is not provided to the people of the old city area.
The prominent PDP activists who participated in the demonstration included, Vikram Singh, Girish Sharma, Pankaj Gupta, Sachin Sharma, Sonu Saini, Chaman Angral, Lovely Jamwal, Amjad, Rajat Gupta, Kunwar Bali and Chandan Sethi.
