PDP Migrant Cell delegation calls on RRC

JAMMU, Apr 6: A delegation of PDP Migrant Cell led by its president, A K Sidha today called on Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (RRC), M L Raina and discussed at length the issues being faced by the displaced Kashmiri Pandits with him.
It was brought to the notice of Relief Commissioner that the Government had accepted the demand of migrants that newly born children will be paid a monthly relief of Rs 2500 but in total disregard to Government decision such children are still paid monthly relief of Rs 400.
The delegation also demanded that the monthly relief of Rs 10,000 be enhanced keeping in view the price rise and devaluation of rupee. The delegation urged the RC that the recent decision on medi claim for Kashmiri migrants be implemented as soon as possible as needy migrants are facing hardships in order to get treatment for critical ailments and also residential accommodation be provided to the needy migrants.
Besides, it demanded recruitment of displaced Kashmiri Pandit youth on Class IV posts under PM’s package with age relaxation to over aged persons.
Raina informed the delegation that the demands will be redressed and process has already been initiated in this regard.
The other members of the delegation included S K Raina, Nana Jee Wattal, Sunil Kumar Bhat, Bal Jee Bhat, Durga Nath Bhat, Chaman Lal Dadroo, Bansi Lal, B B Sadhu and B K Wantoo.
