SRINAGAR, July 22: Peoples Democratic Party and Congress have strongly reacted to the controversial remarks of State Governor Satya Pal Malik with regard to appeal to the militants to kill those who have looted State and not the security forces men.
In a press statement here PDP general secretary Ghulam Nabi Lone castigated Governor, Malik over his appeal to militants to kill “corrupt politicians” and  has said that Mr Malik has arrogated the role of making bizarre and uncalled for statements to himself.
He questioned the equanimity of Governor as a constitutional head of the state while making such bizarre and unnatural statements. “Does he have even an idea of what he is saying?  In a place like  Kashmir where violence has been wrecking havoc for the past three decades, Mr Malik is trying to inject new life to vandalism and violence,” says Lone.
He said Governor must understand that he is the constitutional head of the state of Jammu and Kashmir where there is an accountability apparatus to probe corruption charges and there are law enforcement agencies to punish the corrupt.
PDP leader also questioned Governor’s statement of jailing two former ministers of the state within 3 months. “Why not now, why three months? Is Governor trying to threaten anyone to fall in line within this period or else he will be jailed? If there are graft complaints against anyone and you have evidence as well, why to wait for three longs months, why not to jail that person now?” the PDP leader asked.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee has also strongly reacted over the controversial statement of Governor Satya Pal Malik advising militants to target corrupt elements instead of security personnel.
In a statement PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma has taken strong exception to the statement of Governor, who being head of the State and custodian of Constitution is not expected to make such an irresponsible remarks. It is very unfortunate on the part of Governor who is entrusted to ensure rule of law.
The party fully supports any such tirade to fight against corruption and those involved have to be dealt with in accordance with law  of land but there should not be any selective approach in this regard.
