PDP out to buy support through corrupt means: Omar

Charar-e-Sharief, July 17:  Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, who is also Working President, National Conference today said that PDP is out to attempt tilting the Assembly elections in its favour by applying corrupt means. He said PDP has clandestine plan to utilize ill-gotten money to buy the support of people as has been done by this party in the recently concluded Parliament elections.
“PDP received huge sums from its mentors to buy support of people in the Lok Sabha elections and the party is planning to apply same tactics in the Assembly elections”, he said and maintained that admitting corruption stigmatized persons and elements with highest charges of malpractices and misappropriation in the party fold and giving them mandates is clear indication of PDP’s plan to utilize the ill-gotten money to tilt elections in its favour.
Addressing party workers convention here, the Working President, National Conference asked the NC workers to make people aware of the unfair and corrupt means, PDP wants to apply for grabbing power in the State. He said PDP has always nurtured corruption, misappropriation and falsehood to mislead the common man and is out to utilize same tactics in the Assembly elections.
Omar Abdullah asked the people to reject the nefarious designs of PDP to corrupt the elections and torpedo the society’s values and principles. He asked the people to stand for truthfulness, honesty and sincerity represented by National Conference all along.
He asked the workers to girdle the loins and launch door to door campaign to counter the false propaganda of their opponents (PDP) aimed at defaming the Government and National Conference by circulating falsehood and misgivings. He said people should be made fully aware of this tactics of PDP so that they do not get trapped in the net opponents have cast for them. He said emotional blackmailing and exploitation of sentiments has also been the handy work of PDP. He said this party utilizes these tools alongwith mudslinging and character assassination to attempt at misleading people for their vested interests of grabbing the power.
The Working President, National Conference asked the people to recollect the opposition by PDP to all people friendly initiatives taken by the Government during last over five years including holding of Panchayat elections, creating of new administrative units, employment generation programmes, rehabilitation policy for the youth who had crossed LoC, employees benefit measures, spending of money for public welfare, etc. ” This reveals the anti-people approach of PDP and its frustration”, he said
Omar Abdullah asked the workers to disseminate the details of huge development process initiated and completed by the Government during the last over five years.
Omar Abdullah referred to the Cabinet decisions regarding opening of 7697 departmental sale outlets to provide jobs to more than 15,000 salesmen and helpers. He also mentioned the approval of the Cabinet for operationalization of new administrative units and said that 5860 posts have been created for these units including 181 in gazetted category. He said this decision of the Government will pave way for the employment of equal number of educated youth. He said Cabinet also approved allotment of Rs.63.22 crore for making these administrative units functional immediately.
The convention was also addressed by the General Secretary, NC, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Provincial President, Nasir Aslam Wani and Minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather.
