JAMMU, Apr 28: Former Minister and senior Congress leader, Raman Bhalla today asked Coalition Government to address power and drinking water crisis in Jammu region as power cuts and poor water supply has already made people to suffer when peak Summer is still to be faced by Jammuites.
The erratic power and drinking water supply, dilapidated condition of roads and poor utility services speak volumes about lack of will of the present insensitive Government to serve the people”, Bhalla said while interacting with people of Rajiv Nagar in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today. Prominent among others present on the occasion include Atul Sharma chairman NGO, Jeevan Sangarsh Trust, Sunita Sharma Human Rights State president J&K, Kalla Ram, Paras Ram, Gagan Bral, Gopal Sharma, Vishal Singh, Bholla Ram, Gourav Kumar, Davinder Singh, Puran Chand, Yash Sambyal, Gurdyal, Ashok Vaid, Sheela Devi, Vimla Devi Sumitra Devi and others.
“How can this Government be so insensitive in leaving people fending for themselves in unprecedented and severe Summer months”, he wondered. He said the drinking water, power and health is needed to be given priority and wherever intensity of water scarcity is more, the tankers should be pressed into service so that people don’t face any difficulty. The former Minister sought a mechanism where under essential services are monitored on regular basis and corrective measures taken to ensure adequate supplies to the people.
Bhalla also expressed anguish over poor health services and lack of civic amenities to the people, hoping that the Government will shun its lackadaisical attitude and concentrate on governance rather than creating hype over non-issues to divide the people for garnering political advantage. He said divisive politics is against the composite ethos of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that people of Jammu, who had voted in favour of BJP, now feel cheated and betrayed because BJP ministers have become inaccessible and they are only protecting their petty personal interests at the cost of common masses.
He said instead of solving people’s problems, leaders of coalition are over-burdened with solving their own internal conflicts and bickering. He said that three-year period of PDP-BJP regime is marked with conflict and fissures. Bhalla observed that day-today problems of the people are compounding with every passing day and leaders of both the coalition partners are brazenly indulged into issues which are nowhere concerned with good governance.
Bhalla regretted that common masses in the State have been struggling with number of problems but the members of the ruling coalition have no time to address their issues.
