PDL/TDL workers to go on 72-hour strike from July 24

JAMMU, July 21: The PDL/ TDL and other workers, under Power Development Department have declared to go on 72-hour strike from July 24.
Talking to media-persons here today, Akhil Sharma, president All J&K PDL/TDL & Other Workers Union, in present of vice president and general secretary besides other office bearers, declared that due to the revengeful and indifferent attitude of the higher authorities in the PDL and TDL, they have been forced to go for agitational path.

The Union leaders claimed that JPDCL, PDL and TDL authorities are hiring Linemen on contact basis while no initiative is being taken to regularize other daily wagers/ casual workers, who are working with the PDD for long. The authorities had assured to regularize these old workers and for the last two years they were being conveyed that process for regularization has been started and rules have also been framed for the same.
It was told that rules for the regularisation were framed during 2021 on the basis of SRO 381 read with SO 109 of 2020, at the time of unbundling. The rules were also vetted by the Lt Governor. But no regularization orders were issued till dater and new people on contract basis are being engaged in JPDCL, PDL/TDL, which they will oppose tooth and nail. They said that such workers shall not be allowed to enter premises.
Akhil Sharma also demanded holding of DPC of various cadres and release of wages of the daily rated workers. He declared that during three day complete strike, the daily wagers and casual workers shall hold protest dharna in the office of Managing Director, JPDCL, Jammu.
