PDD workers to go on strike from Nov 28

JAMMU, Nov 20: The Power Development Department (PDD) employees and daily rated workers have resolved to go on strike from November 28.
In a meeting of All J&K PDD Employees Union/ Daily Wagers Union (Jammu province), held here today under the chairmanship of Bharat Singh, the members unanimously declared to launch `Kam Chhorh Hartal’ from November 28, 2016. The Union decided to stage indefinite dharna at the office of Development Commissioner Power at Janipur.
They said that taking serious note of the indifferent attitude of the higher authorities in the PDD and false assurances every time, the workers have been fed up and have left with the only option to launch indefinite strike. The workers are demanding regularization, enhancement of wages, filling up of the vacant posts in the department release of wages in time. They pointed out that during 2013 over 2000 DRWs of PDD were regularized in Kashmir while in Jammu just 873. The Government should stop injustice with the Jammu workers.
Ashwani Mehra, Vinod Padha, Ajay Kumar, Parveen Sharma and others also spoke on the occasion.
