PDD fails deadline

For the second time, PDD is likely to fail to keep the deadline of June 30, 2013 fixed by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission for 100 per cent electricity connection consumer metering. A huge revenue gap exists between the income and expenditure of power supply department adversely affecting regular and uninterrupted power supply. Metering has been considered essential to prevent pilferage of power. Now PDD has asked 2015-16 as the new deadline for completing the metering task. We do understand that converting 2, 05,631 unmetered connections to metered ones is not an easy job but the PDD has to understand the urgency of completing it within stipulated time. People are not happy with the power supply position and the sooner the PDD completes the work the better.
