PDD daily wagers’ strike enters 124th day, hold ‘Havan- Yagya’

JAMMU, Mar 31: While  `Kam Chhor Hartal’ of the daily rated PDD  workers entered 124th consecutive day here today, the protesting  workers  organised  `Havan- Yagya’ in the office complex of  SE (M&RE) Circle-I,  on Railway Road here today.
In support of long pending demands of regularization,  payment of pending wages and timely payment of their wages every month, hundreds of PDD workers are on strike since November 28, 2016. Their protest dharna is continued for the last 124 days.
Earlier, they started protest dharna at Chief Engineer’s office  near Canal Head, under the banner of  All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union and then shifted the venue to the office of SE, M&RE Circle-I Jammu on Railway Road. Chairman, Bharat Singh, vice chairman Gurnam Slathia and president of the Union Surjeet Khajuria area leading the agitation. The Government has failed to address their pending issues.
On the occasion of  Navratras, the Union Members  organised `Havan Yagya’ at the dharna site to seek blessings from Maa Durga for the success of their justified, genuine  and lawful agitation.
Several Union leaders   also addressed the gathering and appealed to the daily wagers/ temporary workers to  actively participate in the ongoing agitation for their common cause. They also criticised the higher authorities in the PDD for their failure to address their issues. They alleged that DyCM, who is also Minister Incharge  PDD has not bothered to address the issues of workers who are on strike since long. They warned to further intensify their agitation.
