JAMMU, Aug 14: A delegation of PDD daily wagers of Jammu district led by Surjeet Khajuria met Deputy Chief Minister (Power Minister) and apprised him of injustice meted out to their Union for the past many years.
The delegation stated that Government was not paying any heed to the demands projected by the union whose members are continuously on strike since November 28, 2016 and holding dharna.
The Deputy Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances of the union and assured redressal of the same very soon.. The Power Minister urged the union members to withdraw the ongoing strike and resume work for streamlining the work in the department. The Deputy Chief Minister immediately called the Commissioner Secretary PDD for removal of all anomalies, injustice and disparity with the daily wagers of Jammu and Kathua districts.
On the assurance of the Minister the Union members decided to defer the ongoing strike for few months when Darbar Move takes place. Union chairman Bharat Singh appealed all its members to return back to duties from August 15, 2017 till further directions from the Union. It was also stated in the meeting that the Union would adopt wait and watch policy till Darbar Move regarding favourable steps to be taken by the administration for redressal of grievances before Diwali festival.
Others in the delegation included Gurnam Slathia, Chintamani Singh, Ajay Sharma, Parveen Sharma, Kishor Kumar, Ranjeet Singh and others.
