THATHRI (Doda), June 9: Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir has cautioned the people against the communal and divisive forces in the State and asked the party workers to carry forward the historical role of the Congress party as a unifying force to defeat the nefarious agenda of such forces.
Addressing party workers here today Mr Mir said that Congress has always played a vital role in the State and fought against the anti-national, communal and divisive forces for the sake of unity and integrity of the State and the country. Time and again such forces raise their ugly head in one or other form but the Congress workers have to accept the challenge to defeat the designs of such forces to maintain regional and religious harmony in the larger interest of the State and the nation.
He recalled the history of sacrifices of the Congress leaders and said that party workers should keep in mind the 130 years historical role of the Congress and be proud of being member of the such great organization. The Congress worker has to be identified as a messenger of peace, harmony and brotherhood in order to cement the relationship between people of different faiths and sections in the society.
PCC Chief castigated the opportunist and unethical politics of BJP and PDP who have no commitment to their own principles and ideologies and displayed utter lust for power when they entered into an unholy alliance. He described PDP-BJP coalition as an alliance of ‘strange partners’ having opposite agendas except power which is their only common goal.
Mir said that the 100 days of the present Government has proved that it has created more problems and issues rather than solving any problem or resolving any issue. This Government created more uncalled for and avoidable controversies than settling the existing ones and created more wedge between different sections and regions than bridging the gaps. The agenda of alliance is a mere piece of paper and eye wash to hoodwink their electorate, as both the partners continue slogans and rhetoric on core issues vitiating the atmosphere in the State.
He further said that coalition partners stand exposed within a very short span and people feel cheated by the false propaganda and politics of lies and exploitation. He said that Congress would continue to effectively play its role so that the coalition partners are made accountable and responsive in the democracy and made to deliver on their election promises to the people.
Prominent among those who spoke in the meeting included G M Saroori-(MLA), Gulzar Ahmed Wani (MLA), Haider Sheikh, Th Balbir Singh (Ex-MLA), Sham Lal Bhagat-MLC, Pardeep Singh Parihar- president DCC Kishtwar, Naresh Gupta-(MLC) president DCC Doda, Anayatullah Rather and Ashok Dogra (Ex-MLA).
