SRINAGAR, Jan 19: Vigilance Organization Kash-mir has caught red handed Patwari Halqa Natipora, Srinagar and his Orderly of the Revenue Department, for demanding and accepting a bribe from the complainant.
The accused Showket Ahmad Sofi of Chatabal, Srinagar, Patwari Halqa Natip-ora, Srinagar and Ab Rashid Dar of Natipora (Orderly), had demanded the bribe for preparing necessary documents for transfer of a piece of land.
The complainant Faisal Lateef of Mehjoor Nagar Srinagar, had lodged a written complaint with Police Station Vigilance Organization Kash-mir, stating therein that his maternal uncle was transferring a piece of land in his favour at Mehjoor Nagar for which Revenue extracts of said land were required. The said Patwari in turn demanded bribe amount Rs 3500/- from the complainant for preparation of the necessary documents and received Rs 1500 in the first instance.
On receipt of the complaint, the Vigilance team, headed by Dy SP Mushtaq Ahmad, laid a successful trap in which Patwari Halqa Natipora Srinagar along with his assistant were caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 2000/- as bribe from the complainant. The tainted money was recovered from their possession along with previous amount of Rs 1500/-. During the personal search of the said patwari and his assistant, Orderly in Revenue Department, Rs 45,000/- were recovered. Both the accused were arrested on spot. The entire proceedings were conducted in presence of an independent witness.
