JAMMU, Nov 27: A patriotic group song competition was organised by Rajya Sainik Board in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Director School Education here at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.
Rajeev Kumar Khajuria, Personal Officer, Director School Education was the chief guest while Brig (Retd) S Harcharan Singh, Director Soldier’s Board, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Sushma Rani were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Rajeev Khajuria said that Education Department will extend full cooperation and support for organising this event as such competitions inculcate the instinct of patriotism and respect for Indian soldiers which is the prime need of the hour.
Brig. Harcharan Singh informed that 7th of December is celebrated as Armed Forces Flag Day in India remembering and expressing the solidarity with Armed forces and gratitude to the soldiers and veterans for their sacrifices during the course of their duty. He further informed that around 1250 schools with 2.5 lakh students prepare for selection of 6 teams for final of Patriotic Song competition conducted by Director School education, Jammu in all Districts of Jammu province held from 5th of Oct to 23rd of Oct, 2018 at Stage Ist. In stage 2, held at Abhinav Theatre today, 14 teams participated.
He further informed about other highlights of Flag Day celebrations, which include active participation by various NGOs in various welfare activities involving soldiers, widows, martyrs’ families and patriotic painting competition as a regular activity with JKAACL as a collaborative agency.
In today’s competition, MHS Hr Sc School, Nagbani bagged first prize while City Higher Secondary School, Udhampur got 2nd prize and DBN Amarvilla, Jammu got 3rd prize. Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Jakh, Samba and Government High School Poonch were declared 4th and 5th respectively. Similarly K C International School, Jammu was decorated with 6th position in the said competition.
The adjucators were Kailash Mehra, D L Kaswalia and Bishan Dass. The event was coordinated by Bishan Dass, Assistant Cultural Officer, JKAACL
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ravi Kant, senior announcer and programme broadcaster Radio Kashmir Jammu. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Arvinder Singh Amn.
