MAJALTA, Jan 3: Spokesperson, J&K BJP and former MLA, Ranbir Singh Pathania said that implementation of Forest Rights Act in J&K has not only written a new chapter in the history of tribal rights but at the same time the entire gamut of forest clearances as well as implications of forests in development projects has undergone a sea change.
While addressing a series of meetings in Tehsil Majalta of district Udhampur, he called for sensitizing and toning up the officers as well as PRIs so as to fine tune with new legal formation on the field.
More so, he further said that workshops and awareness programmes also need to be organised with a view to aware and educate locals/beneficiaries as to how they could make best use of said legislation.
Mr Pathania was also critical of pending forest clearance of Thial to Chountra Mata road. He said road was sanctioned under CRF some five years ago but a very lesser portion of the work has been done on the spot and forest clearance of the road is still awaited. He similarly canvassed case of Kirchi to Dhar Seoj.
Amongst thunderous applause, he informed the people that a string of roads have been sanctioned under NABARD which will change the developmental profile of the area in times to come. He was mentioning about Sloh to Thanda Pani road which has become a jugular vein for the people of Parli Dhar area. Similarly roads from Ralta to Tazoor, Manwal to Kaley, Manwal to Thill, Manwal to Babour have been sanctioned under NABARD. Same way road from Laa to Garh Samna Banj, Chowki to Katwalt and Ramnagar to Degree College have been sanctioned under the PMGSY upgradation which will again mark a milestone in the development profile of the area. He further informed the people that road from Rown to Ramnagar has been sanctioned under two PMGSY projects and a whopping fund of as many as 60 crores has been earmarked for developing the said road.
Mr Pathania was accompanied by DDC Councilors Mool Raj, Jattu Ram, Pinky Devi, Rakesh Bodhi and Sarpanches and prominent people including Mohan Lal Sharma, Ramesh Gupta, Raman Khajuria, Manoj Verma, Nisha Rani, Surinder Singh and others.
