RAMNAGAR, Nov 5: There is a dire need of rationalization of Assembly Constituencies in the State and evolving a broad political consensus amongst all the stake holders.
This was stated today by RS Pathania, MLA Ramnagar, while speaking during the monthly public grievance redressal camp convened here at Dak Bungalow.
Taking cue from his party’s stand, he said that there are various constituencies in the entire Jammu and Kashmir State, which are languishing for rationalization so that they can witness virtual development.
Citing the example of his own constituency, Pathania said that Ramnagar constituency has population, area, supply lines of essential services exceeding 4-5 times of other constituencies and school, hospitals, roads, electricity lines and water supply lines times and times bigger and bigger but the capex budget allocation is either equal to or less than these constituencies.
He said that without an exercise of rationalization, the State will not reflect the true voice of democracy and equitable development of all the constituencies is not possible.
Taking a dig at few political parties and politicians who are keen to politicize the issue for political gains, he said that BJP stands committed for “Rationalization of Constituencies in J&K” and the same finds mention in Agenda of Alliance of present Government too.
While addressing the public darbar, he called for spot redressal of public grievances and asked the officers to maintain a pro-active and public friendly approach while interacting with public. He expressed satisfaction that all the clogged roads and channels have been opened by respective departments and water supply schemes and irrigation canals are functioning properly.
He directed the department of Agriculture to ensure availability of seeds, fertilizers and other inputs at Panchayat level so that farmers need not face any hardships during ensuing Rabi sowing season.
He further called for preparation of comprehensive DPR for construction of a multistory 3-tier Modern Bus stand at Ramnagar which will fulfill all the needs of the Ramnagar for next few decades.
