JAMMU, Feb 26: In a significant development, the Passport Seva Kendra Jammu has been relocated to a new and upgraded facility at Transport Nagar, Narwal, Jammu.
The inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed facility at Plot 27 and 28, Transport Nagar, Narwal, near Narwal Fruit Mandi, Jammu, was presided over by Rajesh Kumar, Regional Passport Officer, alongside the Assistant Passport Officer, TCS team members, and officers from the Regional Passport Office, Jammu.
To ensure a seamless transition, a trial run commenced with the processing of 20 applications today.
“Over the next two days, appointment availability will be set at 50% of the usual quota, gradually ramping up to full capacity thereafter,” a Passport official said.
He said the new Passport Seva Kendra boasts a range of amenities including photocopying services, food and beverage provisions, a dedicated baby care room, access to newspapers, and a comfortable air-conditioned environment.
Additionally, facilities catering to the needs of physically disabled applicants have been prioritized, with ramp access and separate washrooms provided, he added.
He further said that of notable significance is the expansion of service counters, with A, B, and C counters increased from 6, 3, and 2 to 13, 5, and 4 respectively.
“This strategic enhancement is poised to accommodate a higher volume of applicants within the Jammu Division, streamlining processes and reducing wait times,” he said.
Furthermore, it is clarified that the Regional Passport Office, Jammu, will continue to deliver its array of services from its established location at 1st Floor, Auqaf Trust Building, Opposite Gandhi Nagar Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu – 180004 (J&K).
