JAMMU, Nov 7: There was a great enthusiasm among the people after Congress party high command declared the name of Vikram Malhotra as its candidate for ensuing Assembly elections from Jammu East Constituency.
Thousands of enthused party workers and friends accorded a warm reception to Vikram Malhotra here today morning, when he reached at Congress party headquarters in Shahidi Chowk and later at the Residency Road in Jammu.
Amid drum beats and Shehnai tunes, the party workers and people were shouting slogans in favour of Vikram Malhotra addressing a large gathering at Shahidi Chowk, Vikram Malhotra said that my work has been acknowledged by the party high command at the last and now it will prove worth when I will emerge victorious with your kind hearted support and good wishes.
“It’s your love and support that I could do something for you and today I assure you that once I get your mandate I will not let you down,” Malhotra added.
“The way Vikram Malhotra was received by the Congress party workers and people today, it has sent a strong message to his opponents that he is connected to the ground and not a leader of papers,” said Ravinder Sharma, one from the gathering.
It may be mentioned here that the Central Election Committee of the Congress party declared the first list of 69 Candidates for Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir late last night and before that there was a great speculation running all around about the selection of the Candidates of the party.
