Parliamentary panels on Petitions, CA&PD to visit J&K

SRINAGAR, May 14: Minister for Law, Justice, Parliamentary Affairs and Relief & Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today reviewed the preparations with regard to the visit of Parliamentary Committees to the State.
Parliamentary delegations comprising Committee on Petitions and Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution are scheduled to visit Srinagar and Leh respectively.
Secretary Law, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, SSP Security, SSP Srinagar, Special Secretary Law, Special Secretary Health & Medical Education, Director Floriculture, Director State Motor Garages, Additional Secretary CAPD, Deputy Director Health, Deputy Director Hospitality & Protocol, General Manager Centaur Hotel and Secretary, Royal Springs Golf Course were also present in the meeting.
The Minister sought details on arrangements made regarding accommodation, security, transportation and other related facilities for the visit of the Parliamentarians. He directed the concerned officers to ensure that their stay is made comfortable both at Srinagar and Leh.
With regard to difficult climatic conditions in Leh, the Minister asked the concerned officers to ensure that the delegates visiting the region are properly acclimatised to the local climate and directed for ensuring availability of all necessary healthcare facilities for the visiting Parliamentarians.
During the meeting, the Minister was also informed regarding various matters to be reviewed by the Committees, like public distribution system, storage capacity of Godowns, distribution of LPG and other Petroleum Products and increase of LPG distribution outlets in various districts.
The Minister also discussed issues pertaining to food safety and adulteration to be taken up with the Committees. The Minister said that the Department should come up with a foolproof mechanism to check adulteration and sought details on the steps taken to check spurious and substandard drugs. The Minister also asked the concerned to submit a report on the same to the Law Department for legal opinion on the same.
