JAMMU, May 14: Inaugurating the 3-day 24th annual conference of Jammu Mathematical Society and a national seminar on “Topological Algebraic Analysis” here this morning, Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof R D Sharma called upon the participants and researchers to make optimum use of the Seminars and conferences to get their research work examined in such kind of open academic meets where thorough deliberations on the topic takes place before getting it published in the journals of international repute.
The three-day conference is being organized by the Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu in collaboration with Jammu Mathematical Society.
Calling upon the stakeholders of the department and the participants of the conference, Prof R D Sharma said that institutions are known in term of their academic contributions through their research papers, which should be published in internationally acclaimed journals. He hoped that fruitful academic deliberations in the seminar will be helpful in creating awareness among the delegates participating in the conference.
On the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor also distributed prizes among the students who had participated in mathematical competition organized by the Jammu Mathematical Society in 2013 and 2014.
Dr Mursaleen, Department of Mathematics, Aligarh Muslim University, who was the guest of honour on the occasion, said that purpose of the conference is to upgrade the mathematical knowledge and sharing of ideas.
Earlier, Prof D S Jamwal, HoD, Department of Mathematics, JU and president Jammu Mathematical Society, gave brief profile of the conference.
Dr K S Charak, Secretary, JMS, presented the Annual report of the society while Prof Bhopinder Singh, vice president, JMS, presented formal vote of thanks. The proceedings were conducted by Shivani Sharma.
Mathematicians and Research Scholars of various universities like University of Kalyani (WB), University of Delhi, Panjab University Chandigarh, Rohtak University, Central University of Jammu, IIT Kharagpur, Central University of Rajasthan, SMVDU, BGSBU etc also participated in the conference.
