JAMMU, Mar 27: Sanjeev Pargal, Bureau Chief, Daily Excelsior, Dr Sushil Sharma, Head of Department Cardiology Department and Mithun Manhas, noted cricketer were among those, who won `bigduggarawards’ in about week-long nationwide online voting contest conducted by Reliance Big 92.7 FM tonight.
The 92.7 FM had declared four nominees in each category and sought voting online and through SMSes from the entire country for `bigduggarawards’ through its website bigduggarwards.com. The voting lasted about a week and ended last midnight. The results were announced this evening and awards were presented to the winners in a function held at Abhinav Theatre.
Sanjeev Pargal, Bureau Chief, Daily Excelsior, was declared winner in the Journalism Category while Dr Sushil Sharma, HoD Cardiology Department, Government Medical College, Jammu won the award in the Doctors’ category.
Pargal is already the recipient of State Award, Best Legislature Coverage Award and several other medals and awards in various categories. He is member of `Best MLA Award Committee’ of Legislative Assembly.
Kamal Rohmetra, Editor-in-Chief Daily Excelsior and Neeraj Rohmetra, Executive Editor, Daily Excelsior and Pargal’s colleagues in the newspaper, have congratulated him on winning the award in Journalism Category.
Dr Sushil Sharma, who won the award in Best Doctors’ Category, has been holding free camps for poor, downtrodden and rural area people every Sunday providing best medicare to the deserving people. He is also recipient of State Award and many other medals and awards. He is known for being available to the ailing community every time.
Suraj Singh won the award in Music Category while noted cricketer Mithun Manhas got the award in Best Players Category. Manhas has represented Delhi and other teams in the IPL and Ranji Trophy.
Noted educationist ID Soni got the award in Education Category while Ajit Singh won the award in Social Workers category.
ND Jamwal won the award in Literature Category while Deepak Kumar got the award in Theatre Category. Ravinder Jamwal was the winner in Fine and Arts Category while Priya Dutta got the award in Dance Category. Ravinder Jamwal got the award in Fine and Arts Category.
Santoor maestro Pt. Shiv Kumar Sharma was awarded Lifetime Achievement Award.
Several Jury Awards were also announced on the occasion in various fields.
Devender Rana, NC veteran and MLA Nagrota was given Best Businessman Award while Lala Gopal Sachar, pioneer in journalism for several decades and Bureau Head of Hind Samachar Group was given Jury Award in Journalism.
Rana has been one of the fastest growing businessman in the country. This was despite the fact that he has grown very fast politically and served as Political Advisor to former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Some of the awards were given by Jammu University Vice Chancellor Prof RD Sharma, Padma Sachdev and IGP Jammu Danesh Rana among others.
The Jury Awards were also given to Dr Rajinder Singh, former Principal GMC Jammu, Ved Rahi, Prof RD Sharma, OP Sharma Vidyarthi, Chain Singh (shooting), Suman Gupta (painting), Narayan Prasad (Dance), Balwant Thalur (Theatre) and BS Bali (Music).
Vikramditya Singh, MLC, Danesh Rana, IGP Jammu, Dr Preeti Dubey and Dr Bana Singh were given special awards.
