JAMMU, Feb 1: To provide a frontline service to the traders and industrialists of the region to transport their raw material as well as finished products, a Parcel Special Train was started today from Bari Brahmana Railway Station, which was recently remodelled on the lines of satellite freight terminal of Jammu Tawi Station.
This Parcel Special, currently planned on weekly basis, goes in Bhusawal/Karambeli area of BCT Division of Western Railway. It originates 01:00 hrs from Bari Brahmana Station on Wednesday and goes through Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Rewari, Palampur, Geratpur, Surat, Udhna, Bhusawal and finally terminates at Karambeli at 16:00 hrs next day i.e. Thursday. In return, it starts from there Sunday early morning to reach Bari Brahmana station early morning on Tuesday.
Station Director Uchit Singhal told the Excelsior that this Parcel Special is expected to provide a frontline service to the traders and industrialists of the region to transport their raw material as well as finished products to and from coastline of Gujarat and the prominent industrial regions of Maharashtra in a most timebound and efficient manner.
“This Parcel Special will be a timetabled train which will cover a distance of almost 1700 kms in just around 39 hrs. It thus while ensuring quick transit in comparison to roadways, will also provide a green and more sustainable alternative,” he added.
