JAMMU, Jan 5: A major tragedy was averted with timely detected of a parcel IED by the BSF jawans at the gate of BSF’s 173 battalion headquarters at Panj Tila area of Samba town today.
Reports said the Sentry turned suspicious about the parcel at the gate and sounded the BSF officers.
Subsequent investigations revealed that it was a parcel IED.
Addressed to the Commandant, the parcel had been filled with about 100 grams explosive, reports said, adding that a terror plot to assassinate the BSF Commandant has been foiled with timely detection of the explosive material in the parcel.
The BSF has shared information with Samba police which was in the process of lodging an FIR in this connection.
