JAMMU, Feb 5: Para Athlete Chandeep Singh today called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhavan.
The Lt Governor congratulated Chandeep Singh for bringing laurels to J&K by winning a Silver medal in the Men’s plus 80 kg event at the 9th World Para Taekwondo Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey on 11th-12th December, 2021.
During his meeting, the Para Olympic expressed gratitude to the Lt Governor for approving J&K Sports Policy 2022.
While interacting with the young Para Athlete, the Lt Governor observed that J&K Sports Policy 2022 aims to further promote sports in the UT by developing sports infrastructure and incentivizing sportspersons with special emphasis on meeting the needs of specially-abled sportspersons.
The Lt Governor appreciated the performance of the Para Athlete at 9th World Para Taekwondo Championships and assured him all support from the UT administration. He asked him to continue his training for delivering his best performances in future events.
Shamshad Shan, Chairperson District Development Council Ramban also called on Lieutenant Governor.
The DDC Chairperson accompanied by DDC members, Gulshan Parveen and Bashir Ahmad Runyal, submitted memoranda to the Lt Governor which included several issues and demands regarding the developmental needs and welfare of the people of Ramban.
The demands included construction of Sports Stadium in the hilly area of Lamber Banihal and Sangaldan; employing locals in the projects of railway construction and national highways; restoration of Chachawah-Ind water supply scheme; construction of bridge over Chappran Nallah at Haroge, besides creation of Tourism Development Authority for promoting tourism in Ramban, augmentation of power supply and other demands.
The Lt Governor while discussing the issues and demands presented by the Chairperson and members of DDC Ramban assured them of appropriate action by the concerned quarters of the line departments, for the redressal of genuine issues on merit.
He urged the PRI representatives to continue their endeavours for promoting public welfare issues and addressing the needs of people with active involvement in the decision-making process at the grass root level.
