Paper on Nandini-Paneer-Pakoda market wins prize

JAMMU, Apr 22: A paper written by Vivek Sharma, Research Scholar, School of Business, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, Dr  Supran Sharma and Prof  Sudhir K  Jain, has  won the second prize in the category of General Management at the 3rd “International Conference on Management of SMEs in the Global Era: Challenges, Opportunities, Perspectives and Lessons from Gujarat Model” organized recently  by Gujarat Technical University jointly with National Institute of MSME (NI-MSME), Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India.
The paper was titled as “Invoking Entrepreneurial-Worker Cooperatives to Exercise Developmental Pangs” and explores the theoretical possibility of creating a cooperative for the micro-entrepreneurs of Nandini-Paneer-Pakoda-Market who have literally lost their lucrative business after development of the smooth toll road bypassing their location completely. The authors have identified the spirit behind creation of successful worker-cooperatives and then extrapolated the key factors to the similar situation of Nandini-Highway-Market for starting new business ventures after identifying alternative business opportunities which may even be more income generating.
