UDHAMPUR, Oct 9: Activists of National Panthers Party (NPP) here today staged a protest demonstration expressing resentment against the district administration.
Leading the protest, former MLA & NPP President, Balwant Singh Mankotia claimed that general public of Udhampur is being intimidated, suppressed and crushed by the administration on Corona pretext.
“Adarsh Colony area was declared red zone few days back and the people also supported restrictions but even after 23 days the restrictions were not lifted by the administration which rather decided to increase the restrictions further and this irked the people who removed the barbed wiring after which an FIR was lodged against me by the Tehsildar following which activists of NPP came out on roads today against the administration,” Mankotia claimed.
He said, it has been completely cleared by the Central Government that there will be no red zone anywhere in the country and there will not be any restrictions anywhere but the Udhampur administration is harassing the people.
The NPP leader claimed “massive administrative scam in Udhampur in the name of Corona” and demanded that the same should be investigated as “it involves big officials who have bungled crores of rupees.”
Mankotia also claimed that one of the sanitization tunnels installed by him for Rs. 30,000 was shown in RTI reply to have incurred Rs 1.10 lakh expenditure by the administration.
“Similarly, for the community kitchen run here by the people of Udhampur, fake bill was extracted by the administration officials,” Mankotia said quoting sources.
Taking a dig at the administration officials, the NPP leader claimed that most corruption in Corona period has taken place in Udhampur which will be revealed in the coming time.
He alleged that Udhampur administration is trying to suppress him by lodging FIR against him.
He appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha for high-level probe into corruption during the Corona period.
