Panthers Party raises killed Indian prisoner’s issue in Assembly

JAMMU :  Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today raised the issue of Indian Prisoner Chamel Singh’s death in custody in Pakistan Jail on the second day of the Budget Session  here.
JKNPP Leader of Legislative Party Harsh Dev Singh said that the state government should give its reaction on Chamel Singh, who was killed in Lahore’s Lakhpat Jail.
“If Afzal Guru’s issue is being raised in the House, then the government should also come up with a statement on Chamel Singh, whose body has not yet been returned by Pakistan to his family,” Mr Singh said.
He said that it is unfortunate that there is no reaction so far from the state and the central governments.
Bhartiya Janata Party had also moved adjournment motion on this issue.
Earlier, JKNPP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia raised the issue of Talwara migrants.
“Supreme Court had already directed the State Government to treat Talwara migrants at par with Kashmiri migrants but they are still being deprived of their rights,” Mr Mankotia said.
He appealed to the House to pass directions to the government to implement the ruling of the Supreme Court. (AGENCIES)
