JAMMU : Demanding equitable distribution of funds under Backward Pockets Area Scheme (BPAS), Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP)legislators today staged protest in the state Legislative Assembly here.
JKNPP MLA Harsh Dev Singh during Question Hour raised the issue that development funds under BPAS are not being distributed equally in all the districts.
Shouting slogans ‘Backward Pocket Areas Scheme Mein Hera Pheri, Bandh Karo’, ‘pick and choose nahi chalega’, Panthers Party MLAs Harsh Dev Singh, Balwant Singh Mankotia and Yashpal Kundal created uproar in the House.
They said the district plan funds were not being released in time by the government and some of the areas in particular constituencies were being neglected.
Amid slogans, the legislators staged sit-in in the Well of the House.
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra in his reply said the funds will be distributed as per requirement in the constituencies of respective members following which the protesting legislators resumed their seats.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Jugal Kishore also staged walkout and tore papers in the Assembly after his listed question was not entertained in the House as the duration of Question Hour was over.
