ANANTNAG, Dec 31: Former Union Minister and Pradesh Congress Committee president Prof Saifuddin Soz today said that Panchs and Sarpanchs would get honorarium and insurance cover as promised by Congress Party.
Addressing a large gathering of Panchs and Sarpanchs at Rakhi Brah (Shangas) today, PCC president said that Congress Party’s basic commitment was to empower Panchayati Raj institutions so that democracy is strengthened up to grass root level. He further stated that the coalition would follow this line of policy at all the levels in the system.
Prof Soz exhorted the gathering that they should individually and collectively become an effective instrument of promotion of Congress Party and also serve the people at large. He said Congress was committed for providing honorarium and insurance cover to the Sarpanchs and Panchs.
Those who accompanied the PCC chief and spoke on the occasion included MLA Dooru G A Mir, Mohd Muzaffar Parray PCC senior vice president, Ghulam Nabi Monga-MLC, Abdul Majid Padder and Gulzar Ahmed Wani.
