Panchayats devoid of real powers: Jugal

RAMBAN, May 26: BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma (MLA) today charged the Coalition Government with intentionally keeping the Panchayats devoid of real powers.
Addressing a public rally at Ramban today, he said that although repeated claims of empowering the Panchayats have been made but on ground the situation is totally different. He said that non-implementation of the 73rd Amendment of the Indian Constitution has made these institutions toothless, which is indeed very unfortunate.
Jugal Kishore Sharma said that the people are made to suffer on account of inadequate staff in health and educational institutions. Long power cuts are imposed but manifold hike is made in power tariff. There is no regular supply of drinking water and educated youth are sitting idle due to no clear cut youth policy. But the Government claims to be working over night for ‘aam aadmi’.
State general secretary and Ex-MLA Bali Bhagat said that the country under UPA is facing internal and external security threats. He said that 268 militants have so far entered India through illegal routes along with their families while thousands of trained militants are waiting across borders to enter our country.
He said China is posing a threat to India but the weak kneed foreign policy and lack of will on part of the UPA has sent wrong signals that India is a weak nation, which is a matter of shame for the UPA.
State Secretary and Ramban District Prabhari Ghulam Ali Khatana, State secretary Pawan Khajuria and BJP leaders Ramesh Sharma and Rajiv Charak addressed the rally which was organized by Ramban District President Thakur Vijay Mohan.
