Panchayat Phase-I notification issued

JAMMU, Oct 23: Chief Electoral Officer Shaleen Kabra today issued notification for the conduct of first phase of Panchayat elections to elect Sarpanches and Panches in all three regions of the State.
Polling for the first phase Panchayats will be held on November 17 and counting will also be taken up the same day immediately after completion of polling, official sources said.
The notification has been issued for Keran, Ramhal, Tarathpora, Teetwal and Tangdar blocks in district Kupwara, Gurez, Baktoor, Tulail in Bandipora, Kunzer, Uri, Parenpillan, Noorkhah, Kandi-Belt Rafiabad in Baramulla district, Gund in Ganderbal, Khanmoh in Srinagar and Khansahib in Budgam district of Kashmir valley.
In Ladakh region, notification was today issued for Panchayat elections in Drass, Lungnak, Barsoo and Tai-Suru blocks in Kargil district, Durbuk, Singay Lalok, Kharu, Nyoma, Rong and Rupsho in Leh district.
In Jammu region, the Panchayat elections will be held in first phase at Dachhan, Bunjwah, Marwah, Padder and Warwan blocks in Kishtwar district, Bhallessa, Changa, Jakyas and Chilli Pingal in Doda, Ramsoo and Khari in Ramban, Dudu Basantgarh, Lath Marothi, Panchari and Moungri in Udhampur, Bani and Duggan in Kathua, Manjakote and Panjgrain in Rajouri and Bafliaz and Surankote in Poonch district.
According to the notification, the last date for filing nomination papers for both Sarpanch and Panch constituencies is October 30 while the date for scrutiny of nomination papers has been fixed as October 31.
The last date for withdrawal of nominations is November 2. Polling, if necessary, will be held on November 17 from 8 am to 2 pm followed by counting.
