REASI, Aug 2: The residents and students of Panasa today blocked Reasi- Shivkhori road at Sula Park near Reasi town for more than two hours protesting against the Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to repair transformer in the area which was out of order from last 10 days.
They were also up in arms against the PWD for its failure to repair and macmadize the dilapidated road leading to Panasa.
Due to the road blockage , long queues of vehicles, mostly carrying Shiv Khori pilgrims and office going employees, were seen waiting for the road clearance.
The protestors said that the transformer installed at ward number 2 Panasa was out of order from last ten days , but PDD did not bother to repair it. “More over Panasa is just 7 to 8 kms away from Reasi but the road leading to village is in worst condition. We repeatedly approached PWD authorities to macmadize it but they ignore our genuine demand,” they alleged.
The protestors appealed the Government also to look into the possibility of making a bridge over Anji river for directly connecting with Panasa village.
Later on , DDC Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib personally visited the protestors and said that Transformer will be repair at the earliest and while the road work will also be started soon. After assurance from DDC Reasi, protestors dispersed off peacefully.
