RAJOURI, June 5: A young Pakistani woman who had set herself on fire by pouring kerosene oil on her body at Budhal yesterday died in Jammu hospital last night.
The deceased has been identified as Shabnam Kouser, wife of Sajjad Ahmed Lone, a teacher (ReT), hailing from Thalla Draman in Budhal. The woman who was pregnant, after some tiff with the husband and in-laws allegedly poured kerosene oil on the body and set herself on fire. With serious burn injuries she was removed to Budhal Hospital and then referred to GMC Hospital Jammu. She died here last night. The body was taken to Rajouri and after completion of legal formalities it was handed over to the family.
The SP and DC Rajouri also spoke to the father, Khwaja Ghulam Mohd in Gujranawalla in Pakistan besides her brothers Shabir in Norway and Farooq in Gujranawalla. After taking their consent, the body was handed over for burial to the in-laws. A case under Section 174 CrPC has been registered and investigation started by police.
DySP Probationer and officiating SHO Budhal, Sajjad is investigating into the case.
