JAMMU, June 5: Natrang organised an interaction programme with one of the dynamic actor of Indian theatre and Cinema Asif Basra at its Studio Theatre here this evening.
Asif Basra has made a name for himself for his unique acting style. He performed in Anurag Kashap’s ‘Black Friday’ and Rahul Dholkia’s ‘Prznia’ which received much critical appreciation. He also appeared in Micheal O Sajbeland’s ‘One Night With King’ with veteran actors like Omar Sharis and Peter O Toole.
He also played a role of ‘Tailor’ in Hindi movie ‘Lamha’and Shoib’s (Emran Hasmi’s) Father in ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbai’. He gave a brilliant performance in recent film ‘Kai Po Che’ and won critical acclaim for that. Asif Basra has been the lead actor of country’s one of the most popular Theatre play ‘Mahatama Verses Gandhi’ directed by Feroz Khan.
Jammu theatre and television actors had a good occasion to listen to the concept and approach of Asif Basra in approaching a character. During the lively interaction which lasted for about one and half hour, he demonstrated interesting nuances which certainly will help actors to crystallize their concepts about the very art of acting. He cited many examples in support of his arguments and made the whole interaction highly learning and enriching experience.
Earlier, Dinesh Dogra, a versatile actor of Jammu introduced Asif Basra to the select audience and also conducted the proceedings while Janak Khajuria shared the presidium. Balwant Thakur, the Director of Natrang thanked the visiting actor having spared his precious moments for Jammu actors and directors and said that such interactions will help establishing linkages between Bollywood with that of Jammu.
Prominent among those who participated in this exclusive interaction included Surinder Goyal, Kumar A Bharti, Neeraj Kant, Ravinder Sharma, Vikram Sharma, Balwinder Singh, Mohd Yaseen, Rahul Singh, Ankush Lakhnotra and Anita Dhar.
