SRINAGAR, June 19: For the second consecutive day today, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Karnah sector of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
An official said that Pakistani troops initiated the unprovoked ceasefire violation by resorting to intense firing of small arms and shelling with mortars, targeting defence locations at forward posts in Karnah sector of Kupwara.
The official said that the Army gave a strong and befitting response to the ceasefire violation.
“No one has been injured so far in the firing which has created panic among the people living in forward areas,” he said. The heavy shelling was going on from both sides when this report was being filed.
It may mentioned here that yesterday afternoon Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation in Machil sector of Kupwara district
And an Army porter was today injured in a mine blast at Gawalan area of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
An Army porter identified as Bashir Ahamd of Churanda vilage of Uri was today injured in a land mine blast. However, he was rushed to nearby hospital for treatment.
