Pak again violates ceasefire

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 19: Pakistan army tonight violated ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mankote area of Mendhar sector in Poonch district by resorting to mortar shelling and firing on forward Indian posts and civilian areas.
This was second ceasefire violation by Pakistan army in Poonch district in as many days. Yesterday, Pakistan had violated ceasefire agreement in Khari Karmara area of Poonch.
Sources said Pakistani troops fired some mortar shells and used semi-automatic and automatic weapons to target forward Indian posts and civilian areas. The Indian troops retaliated effectively, leading to exchanges that continued for some time.
However, there were no reports of any casualties on the Indian side in Pakistan shelling and firing.
Sources said the ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have become a routine on the LoC in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri. Pakistani troops were trying to push militants into the Indian territory under the cover of ceasefire violations, they added.
