JU removes Prof Jasrotia as Director Physical Education

JAMMU, Feb 19:  Conceding to the demand of  agitating MPEd and BPEd students,  the Jammu University today replaced Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia as the  Director Sports & Physical Education, JU.
He has been replaced by Dr Daud Iqbal Baba, Coordinator Campuses, who shall now function as  Incharge Director of Sports and Physical Education in addition to his other existing duties, relieving Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia from the additional charge of Directorate of Sports and Physical Education.
Prof Jasrotia  shall now function as Director, Reasi Campus, in addition to his other existing duties.
A formal order in this regard was issued this evening by Registrar JU, Dr Meenakshi Kilam thus ending 15-day long standoff  between the University students of Directorate of Physical Education, who were demanding removal of  Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia as the Director.
Alleging that Prof Jasrotia was adopting dictatorial attitude and misbehaving with them,  these students were boycotting their classes and had been protesting in support of their demand.
According to the order issued by the Registrar, Prof Jasrotia has been replaced  to facilitate the smooth functioning of the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education and
in larger interest of the University and the innocent students in particular.
The university has also ordered that Dr Komal Nagar, Assistant Professor, the Business School, shall function as Incharge Assistant Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, in addition to her other existing duties.
