‘300 militants ready to sneak in’

JAMMU, Nov 15: Inspector General of Border Security Forces (BSF) in Kashmir, Rajesh Mishra, today said that in the recent “unprovoked shelling along the Line of Control”, Pakistan resorted to the use of heavy artillery and other modern weapons that caused huge destruction of civilian property this side while security forces also suffered some loss.
Paying tributes to the martyred BSF officer, Rakesh, who was martyred in action during the LoC shelling, the IG BSF said that Pakistan resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC in Kashmir. “The Pakistani resorted to use of heavy artillery and modern weapons. Own troops gave a befitting reply and destroyed Pakistani army camps, launch pads and ammunition depots,” Mishra told reporters here.

He said the martyr, man deserves highest tributes as he fought despite getting injured in shelling. He said that in the intense shelling many civilians were killed, property destroyed and some civilians sustained injuries as well.
Mishra said that at present all launch pads are active across the LoC and some 300 militants are ready to sneak into this side. “Security forces, including BSF are ready to foil all infiltration bids that will be made before the snowfall would block all infiltration routes,” he said.
The BSF officer said that human rights organizations must take note of the damage caused to the civilian properties and killing of civilians in the intense shelling by Pakistan in North Kashmir areas
Defence ministry spokesman based in Srinagar Col Rajesh Kalia said here that Pakistan army resorted to “unprovoked artillery shelling” along the Line of Control in multiple sectors of North Kashmir couple of days back.
In a statement, he said four soldiers were martyred in Uri and Gurez sectors and Army held a ceremony at BB Cantt in which Lt Gen BS Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks participated.
He identified them as Havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy, Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao, Gunner Subodh Ghosh and Sepoy Jondhale Rushikesh Ramchandra.
“On 13 November 2020, Pakistan army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violations in multiple sectors of Kashmir. Late Havildar Hardhan Chandra Roy and Late Gunner Subodh Ghosh of the Regiment of Artillery were deployed in Uri Sector while late Naik Satai Bhushan Rameshrao and Late Sepoy Jondhale Rushikesh Ramchandra of the Maratha Light Infantary were deployed in Gurez Sector.
“In unprovoked artillery shelling by Pakistan army, these (soldiers) received multiple splinter injuries. They were provided immediate medical aid and evacuated to nearest military medical facility but unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.”
Army also paid tributes to Sub-Inspector Rakesh Doval of Border Security Force who was martyred in Naugam sector.
In the meantime, around two dozen residential houses have received substantial damage in Uri in the aftermath of cross-border shelling.
The shelling caused severe damage to residential houses in Kamalkote, Hajipeer and Rampore sectors in Uri.
The residential houses damaged include in the areas like Kamalkote, Bandi Sarai, Sultan Daki, Balkote, Churanda, Samali Boniyar, Mayan Boniyar and Hil Pathar Boniyar, reports said.
Houses of Abdul Gani Sheikh and his son Parvaiz Ahmad in Balkote village in Hajipeer sector were razed to rubble even as the other material completely damaged, forcing the families to shift from the area.
And the low-speed internet services have been restored today in Kupwara district after remaining suspended for three days due to shelling.
The 2G internet services were restored around 2 pm today in the district after authorities had temporarily suspended the services on Friday.
