KATRA, June 1: A group of 181 Hindu pilgrims from Pakistan arrived today at Katra base camp for performing darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi at the holy cave shrine.
The group of pilgrims comprises 136 male, 37 female and eight children. They reached Katra this morning around 8 a m and proceeded towards the Bhawan at 4 p m for performing the Darshan.
Dr Mansa Ram is leading the pilgrims, majority of whom are visiting India for the first time and hailed from Sind province.
Last month when relations between both the nations were strained in the back drop of brutal death of Sarabjeet Singh in Lahore and Sanaullah inside Kot Bhalwal jail the Indian foreign office had advised its Pak counterparts to delay the visit of Pak pilgrims to other religious places in North India.
Dressed in colorful dresses the pilgrims from Pakistan were seen chanting slogans glorifying Mata Vaishno Devi. The group members were also seen dancing to the drum beats in the Katra streets enroute Bhawan shrine.
“Though we celebrate Navratras in Pakistan, here the atmosphere is spiritual and electrifying,” they said.
