Painting exhibition inaugurated

JAMMU, Feb 22: Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura inaugurated a painting exhibition at Kala Kendra here today.
The exhibition has been mounted by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) under its 3-Day Literary and Cultural Festival.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized on developing art and culture among younger generation with a view to preserve the rich cultural ethos of the State. The minister keenly viewed the paintings and sculptures on display at the venue and described the collection as a treasure of art. He called for organizing more and more such programmes.
Earlier in his welcome speech Secretary JKAACL, Dr Aziz Hajini announced that the running scroll board installed at Chrar-e-Sharief shrine will again be made functional.
Besides arranging an art exhibition, the Academy also simultaneously organized panel discussions, street plays, short storey sessions and a musical evening across various venues of Jammu city. The festival will culminate tomorrow.
