JAMMU, Nov 13: In connection with World Diabetes Day, 19th Annual on spot Painting cum Poster competition was organized today by Janta Diabetes Care Centre Talab Tillo and J&K Fine Arts Society (JAKFAS) at Kamala Palace, Jammu.
The objective behind the event was creating awareness about the disease. In the competition, more than 200 students from 20 prestigious schools of Jammu participated and put their thoughts and concepts with the help of paint and brush on paper.
The painting competition was held on concepts ‘Changing Life Style-A cause of Diabetes’, ‘Less Calories of Optimum Weight-Lesser Diabetes’, ‘Fast Food Kills Fast-Live Better’, ‘Control Blood Sugar-Prevent Complications’, ‘Insulin-A Friend in Need’ and ‘Know Your Disease’ put forward by Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, besides other topics related to Diabetes.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Raj Kumar Sharma discussed about the various aspects in the management of the disease and that certain precautions and care can help in the management of diabetes and prevent long term complications. He further emphasized that by regular monitoring of blood sugar and consultations with doctor, long term complication like that of heart, kidney, brain, eyes and legs which are case of great morbidity and mortality can be checked.
Navya Jain of KC International School, Sayogita Bhat of KC Public School, Anvi Chaudhary of KV No 1 Gandhi Nagar bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively in Group A (Junior) category while Vartika Mishra and Khushi of APS Akhnoor got 1st and 2nd consolation prizes, respectively.
In Group B (Senior) category, Yajur Mahajan, Ritika Kher and Pranav Rajesh won 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively whereas Meghna Jain of KC Public School bagged 1st consolation prize and Yanvi Sharma of APS Akhnoor got 2nd consolation prize.
The winners were judged by eminent artists Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Chander Sunder, Vijay Gupta and Sushil Dubey.
