JAMMU, Nov 13: Former Deputy Chief Minister & senior BJP leader, Kavinder Gupta today started the blacktopping work of roads in Sector 7 Channi.
While speaking on the occasion, Gupta said parallel works are being under process at Shanti Nagar, Ambika Colony, Nai Basti, Shastri Nagar and Gangyal which have to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 24 crore and also reviewed the status of other public amenities available to the public. Gupta along with other dignitaries visited various places in the area and took note of necessary interventions required to upgrade the basic infrastructure in the locality including constructions of lanes, drains, roads, drinking water and other concerned departments.
Gupta said that detailed project reports were prepared for execution of all pending works and as planned the works were taken up for the execution. The execution of these projects was meticulously carried out in a phased and time-bound manner, he added. Kavinder said that during the first phase of works, drainage across localities were constructed/upgraded to meet the requirements of the local populace.
Gupta was accompanied by councillors Raj Kumar & Neeraj Puri along with Ankush Gupta, Kulbir Charak, Ashu Gupta, Sajal Gupta, Vikas Gupta, Pankaj Gupta, Kapoor Singh and Prem Sagar.
He said during this phase, extensive sanitation measures were taken to remove blockages/blockades in the drainage network and now Phase-II has been started comprising of blacktopping/tiling in accordance with the feasibility study reports. For this, he said concerned agencies conducted a detailed feasibility report in accordance with the topography, other factors to ensure durability, of the works being undertaken. He further said that all these works have been/are to be executed on a war footing with special attention on the quality of works. During the tour he took note of poor cleanliness in some localities. Gupta requested Councillors of wards to talk to JMC to maintain adequate sanitation, regular lifting of garbage, removal of solid waste from drainages etc while responding to the reports received from locals regarding frequent absence of Safaikaramcharis in the area.
He also urged JMC, PWD, PHE, other departments to regularly interact with locals, local representatives to gauge the on ground performance of their respective departments and to keep channels of communication open for public.
