UDHAMPUR, Dec 29: Four passengers were injured when a taxi rolled down into a deep gorge on the National Highway near Thurld, around 5 kms from the Udhampur town.
According to reports, an Innova Taxi, bearing number JK01AM/1712 and on way from Srinagar to Jammu, slipped into deep gorge when its driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve.
The injured passengers were evacuated by the jawans of 137 BRTF, who were on patrolling in the area. They were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for treatment and their condition was stated to be stable.
They were identified as Mushtaq Ahmed son of Jalal Din, Gulam Nabi son of Mohd Sadiq, Habib Ulla son of Mohd Lone and Ribba daughter of Habib Ulla.

The Sant Nirankari Mission endeavors to establish a world-society of the spiritually enlightened, where there is no place for duality, hatred, jealousy, lust, anguish, greed, attachment and ego, discord and division, war and violence and oppression of the weak by the mighty, he added.
Various cultural activities with a message of human values were presented by the Bal Saints on the occasion. A spiritually Quiz and Antakshri competition was also held.

PDP Minority Wing flays Govt for denying RBA to migrants

JAMMU, Dec 29: PDP Minority Wing held a meeting at Muthi today under the chairmanship of senior Party leader A K Sidha in which various issues of Kashmiri migrants were discussed.
Highlighting the problems of migrants especially living in the camps, the meeting said they face non availability of ration, water, power cuts etc. The meeting accused the Government of denying the RBA status to migrants which is a grave issue and tantamount to negation of citizenship rights of Kashmir to these people.
It criticized the Government for the slow pace of PM’s employment package and said thousands of displaced youth are waiting for years together but no appropriate steps are being taken to implement the package in letter and spirit.
The meting demanded that M Forms should be deleted for the migrants as it has made the voting procedure for them cumbersome.
K B Kaw demanded constitution of Core Committee for migrants which will coordinate with Party High Command. M K Bhat (retd) DyS P cautioned the people against those who divide them on the basis of religion.
The meeting among others was addressed by Nana Ji Watal, S K Raina, Durga Nath Bhat, A K Dhar etc.
Devotees of Hari Mandir submit memorandum to Minister

JAMMU, Dec 29: The devotees of Hari Mandir (Namender) in village Chak Ram Chand of Samba district and villagers Chak Ram Chand and Supwal submitted a memorandum to Minister of Tourism G A Mir, MLA, Samba Yashpaul Kundal, DC Samba and former MLA Manjeet Singh highlighting various demands.
The memorandum demanded that Hari Mandir Temple (Namender) is an old temple of 200 years constructed by then Dogra rulers. It is in bad condition today and remains unattended.
It demanded development of the temple so that worship can be started there. The memorandum demanded constitution of a Committee which will take all the development activities i.e. plantation and fore wall fencing of the temple in hand.
It demanded that the agriculture land belonging to the temple be verified with reference to revenue records and restored to the temple.
The memorandum demanded that steps in this regard be taken at an earliest saying that the history of the temple is linked to Mahabharta period and is one of the ancient shrines of Jammu region which needs immediate attention.
NRHM employees constitute body

JAMMU, Dec 29: NRHM employees of Jammu province today constituted their body under the name and style of NRHM Employees Welfare Association Jammu.
Dr Pradeep Singh Rathore was unanimously elected as president of the body and Dr Raman Sharma as the general secretary. Other office bearers of the Association, elected unanimously, included Dr Mehjoor Khalid (senior vice president), Naazish, Swaran Deep Singh and Dr Adil Irshad ( vice presidents), Dr Rohit Gupta and Wasim Akram (treasurers), Riaz (auditor), Dr Sadeeq Wani ( joint secretary), Dr Tahir Khan (organizing secretary), Dr Bhagwati Prashad (chairman), Dr Javed Wani and Dr Rashid Ali Wani (members secretary).
The Association will strive for regularization of NRHM staff along with other burning issues and grievances like payment of salary on monthly basis, grant of E/L and maternity leave in favour of NRHM employees.
JD(S) extends support to selected wardens

JAMMU, Dec 29: A meeting of Janta Dal (Secular) was held here today at party headquarters, wherein State president of the party, Mast Nath Yogi, while addressing the office bearers, extended his support to selected wardens sitting on huger strike.
The meeting asked the Government to issue appointment orders of the selected Jail Wardens as early as possible.
Expressing concern over the prevalent corruption in the State, the meeting also asked the Government to appoint Lokayukta in the State to check corruption.
Observing that Government employees in some departments are without salary for last nine months, the meeting asked the State Government to release their salary immediately.
The meeting also urged the Government to take up the work of widening of Jammu-Akhnoor Road, which it alleged has become accident prone.

Scooty stolen from CRPF Group Centre

JAMMU, Dec 29: A scooty of a lady CRPF constable was lifted by burglars from CRPF Group Centre Bantalab.
As per police sources, some thieves lifted the scooty bearing registration number DL9SR-6316 of a lady CRPF constable namely Paro Devi, wife of Nek Ram from CRPF Group Centre, Bantalab.
After failed to recover the vehicle, Paro Devi lodged a complaint with Chinore police post.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Chinore police post and efforts are being made to recover the vehicle.
3-day religious function concludes at Suriya Bhawan

JAMMU, Dec 29: A three -day religious function of the Purohit Sabha Martand Improvement Trust was held from December 27 to 29 at Suriya Bhawan here under the chairmanship of its president M K Yogi.
The general secretary of the Sabha Veer Ji Pandita threw light on the working of the Trust and its achievements.
He said renovation was done at newly constructed Suriya Mandir Mattan and lights of other temples in the shrine were restored besides five new rooms, five washing rooms and five separate fully furnished kitchens were constructed.
He said the land of Cremation ground has been restored and a boundary wall was constructed around it. He said Muni Baba Market was constructed and the shopping complex will be utilized by the Biradri members.
On the occasion a book on Martand Tirath carrying its complete history was released.
President of the Trust announced that construction of the first floor of Suriya Bhawan will start soon and MLC Vijay Bakaya has agreed to provide the funds from his CDF.
Mr Yogi said that DC Anantnag has passed an order imposing ban on constructions on the land of Kashmiri Pandits in Mattan area. This order was passed after the Trust held meetings with the district administration in this regard. He said Martand will be kept away from Shrine Bill as the same is managed by a separate Trust.
Diploma Engineers Association constitutes PDD unit

JAMMU, Dec 29: All Jammu and Kashmir Diploma Engineers Association has constituted its PDD unit of Jammu and elected Daljit Singh and Jai Pal Sharma as the chairman and president, respectively.
B N Sethi and Naveen Sharma were elected as vice-chairmen while Sanjay Koul, Rakesh Sharma (Sangra) and H S Puri were elected as senior vice-presidents. Amrish Dutta and Ajay Khajuria were elected as the vice-presidents, Ravi Khah as secretary, Surinder Kumar as joint secretary, J P Singh as chief organizer, Amit Gupta as treasurer and Vishal Anand as publicity secretary.
The unit was constituted during a meeting of the Central body of the Association, held under the chairmanship of Upinder Singh.
