RAMBAN, Jan 29: Elections of Journalist Association Ramban (JAR) were held here today in which Mohammad Taskeen Wani was elected as president.
Atul Kumar Gupta was elected as vice president while Ravinder Kumar Kitchloo and Nawaz Ahmad Rounyal were elected as general secretaries.
The Journalists Association Ramban will work for the welfare of the working journalists of the Ramban district.
The other journalists present in the election meeting, included Parvaiz Ahmad Mir, Qamarudin Manhas, Sohil Bilal, Arshad Kazmi, Mudasar Ahmad Mir and Mashqoor Ahmad.

Tata Motors launches new Nano Twist

JAMMU, Jan 29: Tata Motors today announced the launch of the new Nano Twist, a new addition to the Nano range.
The new Nano Twist will now allow hassle–free and relaxed driving in city traffic with the new first-in-class Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) system, designed for easy manoeuvring in tight driving and parking situations. A new signature Damson Purple colour, with chrome accents, new sporty interiors with new fabrics and stunning in-car features, make the Nano Twist an exciting car to drive.
Unveiling the Nano Twist – Navneet Trehan, Regional Manager, Tata Motors, said, “We at Tata Motors will continuously innovate on the Nano platform, catering to the dynamic desires of our growing customer base of young, trendy urbanites.”
The Nano Twist is powered by a 624cc, multi-point fuel injected, water cooled, naturally aspirated, 2 cylinder gasoline engine with 2 valves per cylinder, mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine produces 38PS power, 51 Nm torque.
The new Nano Twist has been updated with more trendy features. A new look instrument cluster, now houses a trip computer and a new driver information systems, with a bright daytime and night-time Amber display and digital clock. The cluster houses new features – distance to empty (DTE), average fuel efficiency (AFE) readouts, an LED fuel gauge and a coolant temperature gauge.
Available in a variety of colours – Damson Purple (New), Pearl White, Royal Gold, Papaya Orange, Meteor Silver and Dazzle Blue, the new Nano Twist will be available in the XT version, which replaces the previous top of the line LX version of the Nano range. All XT versions come with Beige interior with the exception of Dazzle Blue, which comes with sporty black interiors.
The new Nano Twist XT is priced at Rs 2.36 Lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The Nano Twist will be available across all Tata Motors Authorized Dealerships, in a phased manner.
Unidentified body recovered

JAMMU, Jan 29: Body of an unidentified male was recovered from Gadigarh-Chatha road this morning.
As per police sources, body of an unidentified male aged around 60 years was recovered from Gadigarh-Chatha road.
On getting information, police team from Gadigarh police post rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for postmortem.
A case has been registered at Satwari police station and investigation started.
JKAEA meets DG Accounts & Treasuries

JAMMU, Jan 29: J&K Accounts Employees Association (JKAEA) delegation led by Hilal Ahmad Wani met Director General (DG) Accounts and Treasuries.
During the meeting, the delegation raised various issues including promotions of eligible accounts personnel at all levels, creation of Accounts Officer posts with Director Finance and creation of Accounts Officer posts and other accounts personnel at all relevant places.
Director General Accounts and Treasuries gave patient hearing to the issues and assured early redressal.
Niyaz Ahmad Qadri, president, Secretariat Unit of the association and Kulwant Singh Sambyal, Jammu Chapter were also present.
Gritty Bawne takes Maharashtra to 272/5

A gutsy unbeaten 89 by middle-order batsman Ankit Bawne and a half century by opener Chirag Khurana helped Maharashtra reach a respectable 272 for five at stumps on the first day of their Ranji Trophy final against Karnataka here today.
Opting to bat, Maharashtra lost in-form opener Harshad Khadiwale (15) early but Khurana (64) played the role of sheet anchor to perfection for one and half sessions as they were able to conjure three 50 plus partnerships, which helped them put up a decent total on a slow Uppal track. (PTI)
Three injured in motorcycle-scooter collision

JAMMU, Jan 29: Three persons were injured in road accident at Purkhoo, falling under the jurisdiction of Kanachack police station.
As per reports, Dewa Nand, son of Girdhari Lal of Nai Basti, his son Sunny and Rajesh Kumar, son of Bansi Lal of Domana were injured in motorcycle-scooter collision at Purkhoo.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where their condition was stated to be stable, when last reports came in.
A case has been registered at Kanachack police station and investigation started.
Ganai Committee report total ‘fraud’: Bhim Singh

JAMMU, Jan 29: Chief patron of National Panthers Party Prof Bhim Singh has warned NC and Congress leaders to beware of the sentiments and urges of the people of J&K who have remained victims of NC-Congress rule for decades.
In a statement Prof Singh said that NC and Congress leaders in from the State have started playing cat and rat game only to befool the people and divert their attention from corruption, authoritarian rule, illegal detentions and loot of the State exchequer in their five years’ rule in J&K. Having realized that the people have understood their joint plans and shall kick them out in the forthcoming elections, they have started playing drama in the State in the name creating so-called and administrative units in the State.
NPP supremo said that both of them (including PDP) have be frauded with the Constitution by refusing to hold delimitation of the Assembly constituencies when the entire country had gone through the process. There are 66 blocks in Jammu Pradesh (area is 28000 sq. kms.) and Kashmir has 77 blocks (with 14000 sq. kms.) and even population. He further came out accusing both with strong words for discrimination with Jammu that Jammu Pradesh has 37 Assembly constituencies and Kashmir province 50 Assembly constituencies. Prof. Singh said that there should have been delimitation of Assembly constituencies and block units in State.
Prof. Singh further accused the Congress-NC Govt for playing fraud with the youth and fresh recruits in the State by denying equal wages and regular salaries to the new recruits. He said that 25000 boys working full time in the police as SPOs are paid just Rs 100 a day whereas, thousands of highly educated youth are engaged as contractual employees with a meager salary of a daily wager. He said that the Govt. should have regularized all SPOs, all contractual employees and filled thousands of vacancies in the Govt Departments instead of floating illegal units without authority of law.
NPP leader defined Ganai Committee recommendations on new units as a total fraud with the people of J&K and a dangerous proposition to browbeat the Central Govt. Prof. Singh said that Jammu Pradesh which has double the area as compared to the Kashmir Valley deserved a fair and equitable share in every sector and developmental works in the State.
Woman receives burn injuries

JAMMU, Jan 29: A woman hailing from Chatroo, district Kishtwar received serious burn injuries at her residence.
As per reports, 40-year-old Karshi Devi, wife of Som Nath of Chatroo, district Kishtwar received burn injuries at her residence under mysterious circumstances.
She was rushed to nearby hospital from where she was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where she was responding to the treatment, when last reports came in.
Police has taken the cognizance.
Administrative units row: Protest, shutdown in Narbal

SRINAGAR, Jan 29: A massive protest demonstration and shutdown was observed in Narbal and its adjoining areas of Central Kashmir demanding Tehsil status.
Reports said that men and women this morning took to the streets at Narbal Chowk and blocked the Srinagar-Gulmarg road for at least four hours. The protestors holding banners and placards shouted slogans in favour of Tehsil status to Narbal.
Today’s protest was held the under banner of Co-ordination Committee Narbal and its adjoining areas. The president of the Committee Aftab Ahmad Qureshi told Excelsior that they are forced to take to the streets as the Government has miserably failed to upgrade the Narbal block to Tehsil, which was established in 1953, the oldest in Central Kashmir,” he said.
The general secretary of the Coordination Committee, Syed Zahoor Ahmad said that apart from meeting with the committee members they also met then Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and other officials of the State administration to inform them about the callous attitude of successive Governments towards the Narbal block.
The protestors also threatened to intensify the agitation if Government did not meet their demand; they will start an agitation and will come on roads on daily basis.
However, after the assurance of divisional administration, they allowed the traffic to ply from the areas after remained suspended for several hours.
Avail benefits of self employment schemes: Sadhotra

JAMMU, Jan 29: Minister for Planning, Labour and Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today said that Government is encourage those who want to set up own income generating units, adding that the policies framed to generate jobs in private sector for unemployed youth in the State are showing encouraging results.
This was stated by the Minister after inaugurating a stone crusher, established in private sector, at Nandni in Marh constituency here today.
The Minister said that the tendency growing in the educated youth to set up income generating units rather following Govt jobs is a good gesture and will not only create income source for them but also employment opportunities for other persons also depending upon the size of the units. “Becoming a boss is the best policy rather listening to others,” the Minister said.
Ajay Sadhotra said that implementation of SKEWPY was aimed to motivate educated youth towards self employment. He said, “Government is not able to provide Govt jobs to everyone” and asked people to change their mind set and come forward towards self-employment schemes for which Government is extending financial incentive and expertise guidance to the promoter for better results.
The Minister appealed people, present there, to persuade their children towards self-employment schemes rather allowing them to waste their time in looking for Govt jobs. He said there are number of potential sectors where people can invest and earn their livelihood. He said tourism, dairy, sheep, poultry, handicrafts, automobile are among the potential sectors where people can invest and earn livelihood.
He said that setting up of stone crusher will help Government in taking forward developmental projects started in the area. He said men, machinery and material are important constituents of every development projects and asked the management of the unit to take care of environmental precautions in the area.
