SOPORE, Mar 10: J&K Peoples Conference senior vice president and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the sole objective of the main constituent parties in PAGD is to gain power and safeguard their interests at the cost of the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing the Party workers’ convention in Nowpora Kalan, Sopore today, he said that people of J&K have realised the hollow promises of NC and PDP to fight for identity and special status of J&K.
Vakil said: “PAGD was ostensibly formed to fight for the restoration of Article 370 and Statehood of J&K. A considerable time has passed since its creation however we are yet to see a clear roadmap for fulfilling its stated objectives. The NC and PDP are speaking in different voices and in the interest of their respective parties and not in the interest of J&K. Their only reason to stay together is to grab power in the Assembly elections. It is no longer an alliance of ideology but an alliance of convenience. The people of J&K can clearly see through their double speak and will no longer be fooled by their hypocrisy.”
Vakil asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are beginning to see the deceit of these two parties and are now looking up to the Peoples Conference as viable and credible political force. Peoples Conference will emerge to become the strongest voice of the people of J&K, especially the youth and will zealously work under the leadership of Sajad Lone for the welfare of our people as the leadership is genuinely representing the aspirations and sentiments of youth, he added.
Besides, others who addressed the workers, included Tariq Ahmad Mir, Abdul Salam Bhat and Ghulam Hassan Lone and several others.
