JAMMU, Jan 20: The already deflated balloon of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has now been punctured with People’s Conference chief Sajjad Lone deciding to quit the alliance, former Minister and senior BJP leader, Bali Bhagat said here, today.
Asserting that the regional parties of Valley comprising National Conference, (NC) People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and CPI(M) among others had joined hands to fight against the Bharatiya Janata Party Government, he said the PAGD has yet again deceived the people of Kashmir.
“The People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration was set up in Jammu and Kashmir only to stop Bharatiya Janata Party. They selfishly lied to the public of Kashmir. They bagged their votes and have now started getting separated,” the senior BJP leader said while addressing the party workers at a training camp at Marh Mandal.
“The PAGD always had so many mutual differences and that in their ideologies that the Alliance was never to last. The DDC election results proved that the alliance was much weaker despite the coming together of six major parties. With Sajjad Lone leaving, the Alliance is now at the last legs. This is one of the first setback for the PAGD. You will see other parties leaving the Alliance soon,” he said.
“The people of Valley have been deceived once again by these parties who have looted the Kashmiris for last 70 years. The trust on PAGD has been breached, it is now over. The only hope for a Kashmiri right now is Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who will continue the strong wave of development and strong governance in the years to come,” the former Minister said.
“In the District Development Council (DDC) elections, Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party. Even if the BJP was fighting all these parties combined, still it managed to garner the highest vote share across the Union Territory. This shows that people have already rejected the PAGD and reposed their faith in the pro-people policies of the BJP,” he said at the Mandal training camp, which is organised by the BJP every three years, after the formation of new teams.
Other BJP leaders including Abhinav Sharma , district president, Rajinder Singh Chib, district secretary Captain (retired) K L Sharma, DDC member, Geetu Aulak and Vandna Sharma also addressed the workers.
