JAMMU, Jan 31: PM package employees putting up in rented accommodations in districts of Anantnag and Kulgam of Kashmir valley held a protest demonstration here, today against the illegal, forcible and unauthorized occupation of Government quarters by the already accommodated package employees in Vessu camp of Kulgam district since 2010.
The protestors with banners and placards in their hands said that these package elements have repeatedly attempted to capture the under constructed quarters illegally despite the fact that they are already living in Government accommodations in the camp since 2010.
The protesting employees said even though facing a lot of problems they being the law abiding people have been deprived of basic necessities and those employees who are already in possession of Government accommodations since 2010 are acting as outlaws, breaking rules and setting law aside.
Showing their anger and resentment the protestors said they are facing numerous problems having limited resources and they have a compelling life as there is huge rent besides they face security risk. They alleged that their families especially their old age parents have suffered prevailing COVID conditions which worsened the things for them.
They said that they are unable to keep their families alone at rented accommodations in case of emergency at their home in Jammu. They said that they are facing the security risks as they are catered within the district and can never approach Government. In case of emergency as there is no whereabouts of them with Government or security agencies. They demanded a stern action against those who forcibly occupied the under construction Government quarters to prevent such illegal and inhuman actions in future.
The protestors, however, expressed their total satisfaction the manner in which the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, T K Bhat issued allotments of quarters at Vessu under the guidelines set by DMRRR in a transparent manner. They demanded that the employees who have forcefully occupied the Government quarters be evacuated immediately.
Those who addressed the protest included Vinod Kumar, Filori, Sameer Koul, Ashish etc.
