JAMMU, Nov 16: Panun Kashmir, (PK) held a meeting here, today under the president-ship of Vijay Bhat, to take stock of the situation and discussed ways and means for the return and rehabilitation of KPs to Kashmir valley keeping in view the reorganization of the State.
Convener, Panun Kashmir, Ravinder Jalali informed about the passing of a unanimous resolution that there can be no peace in Valley until the Kashmiri Pandits are rehabilitated there. Panun Kashmir has time and again given the blue print for the return of Kashmiri Pandits which is clearly shown in the Margdarshan Resolution of 1991 and envisages a separate Homeland to preserve the ethnicity, culture and heritage of Kashmiri Pandits. Ravinder Jalali further said that all the efforts of the Government will fall short and the real test to restore normalcy will be the return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland of which they are aborigines. The return of Kashmiri Pandits with honour and dignity to Kashmir will be the litmus test for the Government to ensure peace and stability in J&K.
Vijay Bhat president PK appealed Lt. Governor of UT of J&K to appoint a Commission of Enquiry under a serving Judge of Supreme Court or retired Chief Justice of SC to investigate the reasons for the ethnic cleansing of miniscule minority of Kashmiri Pandits from their homes and hearths and bring them to justice who were responsible for ethnic cleansing of the community. P K also expressed surprise that not a single charge sheet has been filed against the culprits, not to talk of conviction. Panun Kashmir also expressed surprise for not opening the cases of murderers of KPs, when 1984 riots could be opened.
It is unfortunate that even in the 30th year of exile in a democratic and secular country; the KPs are still facing the settlement crisis and the Government is yet to formulate system for their resettlement. Ravinder Jalali warned the Government that the KPs can not be further used as cannon fodder or guinea pigs for experiment. Those who oppose the separate homeland for KPs will be committing the sin of letting down the India in Kashmir.
