Oxygen shortage in GMC increased number of deaths: Congress

JAMMU, Sept 25: Senior Congress leader, Mula Ram and DCC Rural President, Hari Singh Chib flayed the callous attitude of government for not showing seriousness over the shortage of oxygen in Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and its associated hospitals result of which is rise in number of deaths amidst COVID pandemic.
In a handout, these Congress leaders called it a matter of worry that acute shortage of oxygen cylinders in GMC Jammu has cost us several lives.
“The reported neglect of administration is adding to the sufferings of COVID patients besides other people in need,” they claimed.
Mula Ram suggested that the administration should take instant measures and develop medical infra as the ground situation is worsening by each passing day.
“We have to bring the hospitals in proper functioning mode that too with cent percent infra and necessary medical equipment,” he said asking the administration to wake up from deep slumber to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Hari Singh Chib lambasted the government for compromising with the lives of the people by curing the COVID patients with limited healthcare facilities knowing that inadequate facilities would cost their lives.
The Congress leaders urged upon the administration to make adequate arrangements of necessary oxygen supply for those suffering from COVID-19 pandemic in the hospitals and also make sure the availability of all necessities like PPEs, masks etc.
They appealed to J&K LG, Manoj Sinha to intervene and direct the health department to take immediate measure in developing the healthcare system.
