Oxygen plant nearing completion, bipap facility augmented: GMC Principal

JAMMU, Oct 27: Principal Government Medical College and Hospital, Dr Shashi Sudan today discussed the developmental initiatives being taken by the Hospital Administration to provide better healthcare facilities to the patients.
At the outset, the GMC Principal said that the dialysis of the patients will also be conducted in GMC hospital which was previously done in Gandhi Nagar Hospital. She said that more equipment will be procured under the technical guidance and control of Nephrologist Super Specialist.
To overcome the scarcity of bipap support facility for the patients, the hospital administration has procured two bipap machines which have been installed in Emergency ICU. She also informed that three more bipap machines have been ordered which will be received soon.
She said that all the doctors in emergency duty have been provided Cardiac Monitors and Pulse Oximeters.
Civil works regarding Liquid Oxygen Plant have been completed and will be commissioned soon after receiving the vessel, she added.
The Principal said that providing best Medical care facilities to the patients is our top priority and Hospital Administration is leaving no stone unturned in its endeavours regarding the treatment of patients.
Meanwhile, giving details regarding COVID cases in GMC and its associated hospitals, the Principal informed that the GMC has total 55 patients out of which 16 are in isolation ward, 10 are in CCU, 21 in ward no 3 and 8 in HDU. None of the patients are on bipap/ventilatory support, while Gandhi Nagar hospital has no patient. Chest Disease Hospital (CDH) has 17 patients and all have been provided oxygen facility. She further informed that three deaths have been reported in GMC in the last 24 hours.
The Principal GMC informed that total 404 oxygen cylinders have been consumed in last 12 hours, including 386 in GMC and 18 in CDH.
