JAMMU, Aug 19: Nowabad Police arrested owner of a tour and travel agency and his associate for kidnapping a businessman hailing from Ludhiana.
As per police sources, a complaint was lodged on August 14 this year by a person identified as Sunny Gill, son of Jagdeep Singh of Ludhiana with Police Station Nowabad stating that he visited Jammu in connection with real estate business and was staying in a hotel in city area, when Balbir Singh, owner of Bawa Tour and Travels along with his associates kidnapped him at gun point.
The complainant was kept confined in the house of Balbir Singh at Amar Colony, Camp Gole Gujural road, who threatened him for payment of Rs 10 lakh or face dire consequences. The accused persons extorted Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
The complainant fearing threat to his life escaped the place of confinement by jumping from the Ist floor of the building and informed police.
Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 108/2020 under sections 347, 364-A, 386, 34 IPC and 3/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Nowabad and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, a team from Nowabad Police Station arrested two kidnappers, who were identified as Balbir Singh (owner of Bawa Tour and Travels), son of Mehar Singh of Amar Colony Camp Gole Gujral Road, district Jammu and Gurdeep Singh, son of Manjeet Singh of Aman Vihar, Munshi Chak Camp Gole Gujral Road, district Jammu.
On the disclosure of accused Balbir Singh, one silver grey colour Innova with Registration Number JK02BW/3999, one revolver with 5 live cartridges and Rs 50,000 extorted money were recovered. Police also seized 4 DVR of CCTV cameras installed in his the house of Balbir Singh.
Police team led by SHO Nowabad Inspector Deepak Pathania and assisted by SI Kali Charan made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Headquarters Jammu Shwetambri Sharma, SP North PD Nitya and SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil.
Investigation into the case is in progress and some more arrests are awaited as search of other accused persons is going on.
